Sound Mapping Mithi River is a sound creation which is part of the larger exhibition SOAK: Mumbai’s third coast to be presented at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mombai.

SOAK is an exhibition and book project by Anuradha Marthur and Dhilip De Cunha who have focused their artistic and design expertise for the past decade on cultural and ecological issues of contentious landscapes. Their investigations have taken them to diverse terrains including the Lower Mississippi, New York, Sundarbans, Rio Grande, and Bangalore. They believe that landscapes are shifting, living material phenomena that demand an attitude of negotiation rather than unilateral control. Their mission is to create through innovative modes of visual representation the ground for this attitude in design.

Sound mapping Mithi River is an independant sound installation complimenting the SOAK discourses. It is a sound documentary; a re-interpretation of acoustic environment of the Mithi River, as a sonourous data, perhaps musical in an eclectic sense.
