Untitled (on tiptoe) 2010

Untitled (on tiptoe) is a site-specific installation for the Fondazione Lanfranco Baldi, Pelago, Italy. It is a multi-sensorial intervention performed by scattered coloured glass particles and wallpaper fragments reproducing sky reflections on water. A small watercolour, of two beetles mating, completes the installation. The glass particles sprawl at first sight like a sand expanse transforms the visitors’ walk through the Fondazione premises into a precarious, frail passage. Leonora Bisagno’s practice of re-using chanced on images and objects introduced into a new context or flow of ideas is here emphasized by the use of recycled glass from a local recycling plant. The installation is a reflection on representation, illusion, fragmentation and reflection itself. Both images and the sprawl prevent an overall view stressed by the cautious steps on the crackling floor. The fragmented landscape blends natural elements into an illusionary space and the absence of water plants define it as sky though being a water scenery.The illusionary complexity of reflection reveals fully through its opacity and the creation and recreation is also paired with a consideration on the environment.

Apogee (Pollicino’s strategy) 2010 _plastiline

Apogee (Pollicino’s strategy) is a site-specific installation on the railing of the Villa’s main staircase. An imperceptible, minimal intervention that modifies the whole perception of the space by a playful, simple gesture which accompanies the visitor to the Villa’s halls and brings art to a tactile proximity.

Il grillo per la testa is a site-specific installation in the neoclassical Villa Romana on the outskirts of Florence. Leonora Bisagno has decided to open the interior balcony above the entrance of the Villa, inaccessible for a long time, and work on architectural elements of the building. The isolated, closed balcony painted in a pompei red colour, en vogue during Neoclassicism, but missing in the Villa gives new life to its central but unnoticed area. The work is a reflection on surface as part of Leonora Bisagno’s artistic research and decoration: the balcony itself as an element placed between interior and exterior of an edifice is related to the grapevine, ancient decorative element which usually covers buidings’ façades and surfaces. The image placed on the leaves of the balcony, showing a cricket on a head, is a reflection on the relationship between nature and representation and on the interaction between nature and mankind. Il grillo per la testa (a cricket on the head) is an Italian expression that means to be full of bizarre, strange ideas.

“du 5 décembre 2009 au 5 mars 2010 au Médialab du MUDAM

“En vœux tu en voilà” is a collaboration between Mudam and “Fir ons Kanner” for the 50th anniversary of the association, and artist Bruno Baltzer, (jusquici a.s.b.l.). “The Wish” being the association’s theme of the year, Bruno spent two weeks in July 2009 with children from Grevenmacher and Reuler for this workshop.

The result is an installation of 19 “photographic portraits of the children while they project their wish into the camera. Each take was 10 seconds long, the end result lasts 1’40”. The work is about seizing a fragile and short moment where the inner thought is reflected by facial expression.

En vœux tu en voilà

“En mai 2009 bruno baltzer artiste de jusquici a.s.b.l reçoit, de la part du service des publics du MUDAM, la demande de réaliser un atelier avec des jeunes et cela pour fêter les 50 ans de l’association “fir ons kanner”. Le thème du “voeu” servira de fil rouge. Très vite la proposition de réaliser une pièce artistique où les jeunes seraient les acteurs de celle-ci s’impose. En juillet Bruno passa deux semaines avec les jeunes de deux maisons relais à Grevenmacher et à Reuler au Luxembourg. Après plusieurs journées d’approche et d’apprivoisement, de petits déjeuners et de parties de Uno, de dessins et de match de badminton, chaque enfant ou adolescent se retrouva devant une caméra un peu spéciale.

“En vœux tu en voilà” consiste en une installation 19 vidéos. Conçus comme autant de “portraits photographiques” les modèles sont assis devant un tableau d’école. La lumière est naturelle et est celle de juillet au Luxembourg. La caméra utilisée permet d’enregistrer à la cadence de 300 images par seconde. Le photographe, mis en confiance par plusieurs journées au contact des jeunes leur demande alors de “projeter” dans la caméra leur vœu le plus cher. La prise de vue dure 10 sec. La vidéo résultante, elle, 1’40”. Les “acteurs ne parlent pas. Il s’agit ici de saisir et de faire durer cet instant fragile ou le visage n’est que le reflet d’une pensée intérieure. Ces portraits sont troublants. Théâtre aux mouvements infimes, les images mentales des vœux et des désirs, pointent les jeunes individus dans leur unicité.
