ultranature 14: is sakura’s time. questions of “regard”, of rooted culture and perception of time and nature live within this series of images. a poetic discovery through time at this specific time in japan.

ultranature 14: is a new piece made in tokyo. we had the chance to arrive during the amazing sakura’s time in japan. we were really surprised by the deep dedication of japanese people to the beauty of their blossoming nature. everyone was ready to catch a souvenir of this unique moment. japanese love photography. ancient contemplation emphasizes through digital means of capturing images. as for other works made by ultranature, ultranature 14 is a series of images-écrans. taken during their making of, we decided to perceive sakura’s time through the eyes of japanese people. mobiles phones and digital cameras’ screens become a fluid but still bodily film which show the tension between a sort of “real“movie of a present experience (we were there, they were there: talking, contemplating, living) and the capturing of a snapshot. it is not the image of a photo, it is almost the mental image, an image of “seeing”. the magnifying of these images and their pixel quality evoke the flowing of time, with a poetic and nostalgic perception of it. the destiny of these images is their persistence as image-écrans till the moment of their certain disappereance. we wanted to take pictures of the sakura. they were just one: japanese people, their blossoming cherry trees and their cameras. we became part of them.

ultranature 12: (from the sixties on) is an installation composed by a no sound video, a music broadcasting radio station, a wallet-size photo and a lightbox (the image is a playful tv’screen collage with paper cut-outs and shadows). in collaboration with: claudio walzberg, trixi weis ,tania walisch and coralyn and richie. we were there spending a beautiful evening together. ultranature 12 honours the no ageing time, convivialty and playfulness. in the memory of the sixties and all time coming after it because every time is all times. no artifice. live spontaneous video and the “of always” complexity and fascination of screen images reveal their memory and forecasting, ever present content.

ultranature 11: is a work realized in collaboration with tania walish, biologist at the natur musée of luxembourg. the work has been proposed for the project of the italian curator pietro gaglianò “the wall – archives” held in luxembourg in january 2012.

ultranature 9 (milou) is an ironic gag towards the hilarious relationship to the animal kingdom nowadays through urban gardens and animals living our towns. a sort of misunderstanding between the juxtaposition of natural and artificial beings results. is there really a difference between our milou and yours?
